Every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at our Needham, MA center CLC is pleased to announce the beginning of its outreach program offering monthly information sessions on a variety of topics pertinent to learning. Come and enjoy a short presentation, coffee, support and conversation with other parents and teachers. Presenter: English is a complex language. It is filled with spelling and pronunciation challenges. Where do words like buffet, cousin, canyon, dwindle, and mosquito come from? How did they become a part of our language? Knowledge of the history of English and how and when to introduce the various elements of our language enhances the teaching of decoding, vocabulary, and spelling. Join us for this informative and lively session. Book signing to follow. Diana Hanbury King’s distinguished career includes significant service to students with dyslexia. She is an Honorary Founding Fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. She is the founder of Kildonan School and Camp Dunnebeck in Amenia, NY and is the author of several books for educators, including: Writing Skills (EPS Books) and English Isn’t Crazy: The Elements of our Language and How to Teach Them (York Press).
