Our primary areas of focus include:
Comprehensive Educational Evaluations/Assessments
At CLC, we prioritize early intervention to help students overcome learning challenges and achieve success academically and beyond. Our assessments aim to make learning accessible and enjoyable for students who may have struggled previously.
All new students receive a complimentary consultation with the CLC director, which involves reviewing past tests and academic records. This assessment helps us pinpoint strengths and areas for improvement, enabling us to design a personalized teaching plan for each student.
After the evaluation, students and their families receive a detailed report outlining challenges and providing recommendations for programs and strategies tailored to their needs.

-
Orton-Gillingham
This phonics-based program is ideal for students who struggle to connect sounds with letters or have difficulty reading sentences. It introduces the basics of the English language before moving on to more advanced concepts.
-
Wilson Reading System
Wilson is a 12-step program that helps students with spelling and reading words in isolation. Building on Orton-Gillingham, it uses repetition to reinforce learning, ensuring students master reading and writing concepts before advancing.
-
Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing™ Program (LiPS)
LiPS focuses on proper pronunciation and the physical formation of sounds, teaching students how the lips, tongue, and mouth create the building blocks of letters and words.
-
Nancibell® Visualizing & Verbalizing® Program
This program strengthens mental imagery for better comprehension and academic performance in reading, writing, and other subjects.

ADD vs. ADHD: Understanding the Difference
Are ADD and ADHD the same thing?
The short answer is both yes and no. In the past, ADD (attention deficit disorder) and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) were separate diagnoses. ADD described inattentiveness and difficulty focusing without hyperactivity, while ADHD included symptoms of hyperactivity and impulsive behavior.
Today, ADD is considered outdated, with ADHD encompassing all related behaviors. Some professionals still use ADD for clarity, particularly when hyperactivity isn’t present.
Diagnosing ADD and ADHD in Hudson Kids
Diagnosing ADHD or ADD involves a comprehensive evaluation, not a single test. Healthcare providers interview parents, teachers, and others familiar with the child to understand their symptoms. Vision and hearing exams, along with a physical, rule out other conditions with similar symptoms.
After a diagnosis, informing educators helps create strategies to support the child’s focus and success in the classroom.
