Our instructors hold advanced degrees in special education, mathematics, and reading, and are certified to teach students facing learning challenges.
These are the top four specialized services we excel in:
Your Initial Step at CLC: Educational Assessments
Early intervention plays a pivotal role in a child’s academic success and overall growth. This is why CLC offers educational assessments in Providence to identify learning disabilities and determine the most suitable learning style for each student. These assessments have the power to transform a student’s life by enabling them to grasp concepts that may have been previously elusive.
For all new clients, we provide a complimentary consultation with the CLC director, which includes a comprehensive review of past exams and results. This process helps us identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses, enabling us to create a personalized teaching plan tailored to their individual needs.
Following the assessment, the child and their parents will receive a detailed testing report highlighting areas of difficulty, along with recommended programs and methods for improvement.
Our Providence Reading Tutoring Program
Developing strong literacy skills can be a significant challenge for young students. In Providence, we foster enhanced literacy skills through a selection of accredited programs that are proven to elevate reading abilities. Our reading programs cater to students facing challenges such as dyslexia. Some of the reading programs we offer encompass:
-
Exploring Orton-Gillingham
This program is an excellent solution for students who struggle to connect sounds with associated letters and experience pauses when reading sentences. It’s a phonetically-based program that imparts the fundamental building blocks of the English language and advances from there.
-
The Wilson Reading System
The Wilson Reading System is a comprehensive 12-step reading and writing program designed for individuals who grapple with spelling and find it challenging to read words in isolation. It goes beyond phonics and ensures a thorough understanding of each stage before progression, leading to reading and writing success.
-
Discovering The Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing™ Program
Also known as LiPS, this phonetically-based program assists students in learning proper word articulation before transitioning to writing. Educators using this program demonstrate how the lips, tongue, and mouth form specific letters and words.
-
The Nancibell® Visualizing & Verbalizing® Program
This program employs a visual approach to help students develop mental images while reading and writing. By fostering visual associations, students enhance their memory and excel across various subjects, beyond reading and writing alone.
Assisting Providence Students with Math Tutoring
Our math tutoring caters to students of all ages and skill levels, whether they are mastering elementary school math or tackling high school calculus. We offer distinctive math programs that enable students to visualize solutions and formulas to solve problems. Additionally, we guide students in creating a solutions manual of math formulas, reinforcing their understanding of concepts.
Children grasp math concepts more effectively when they have a tactile experience with numbers. That’s why we incorporate the TouchMath program, which helps students with numeral addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
Comprehensive Test Preparation for Providence Students
We understand that test-taking can be overwhelming for most students in Providence, especially when it involves exams for college or private high school admission. At CLC, we provide comprehensive one-on-one teaching to fully prepare students for exams such as MCAS, SAT, PSAT, SSAT, and others. Our expertise in these exams enables us to guide students effectively through challenging questions.
We also offer test preparation for adult learners aiming to obtain their GED, unlocking additional job opportunities.
Benefits of CLC Tutoring for Providence Students
At CLC, convenience is a priority, and we offer various amenities, including ample parking at all our locations. Our centers feature modern computer models and equipment within a contemporary setting. Each student has access to the private workspace to ensure an uninterrupted learning environment.
All CLC tutors undergo rigorous background checks, and we have part-time and full-time specialists. Our instructors specialize in multisensory programs.
In select cases, students may qualify for financial aid for tutoring services. Additionally, if a client has a sibling, they receive a 10% tuition discount. Students are not bound by contracts and can continue receiving guidance for as long as they need.

Distinguishing Between ADD and ADHD
ADD and ADHD are two terms that frequently cause confusion. Do they signify the same thing?
The answer is both affirmative and negative. In the past, ADD (attention deficit disorder) and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) were distinct diagnoses. ADD in children referred to symptoms characterized by withdrawal, spaciness, difficulty focusing, and attentive listening, without hyperactivity. Conversely, ADHD in children was defined by excessive energy, incessant talking, and hyperactive behavior.
Today, ADD is considered an outdated term, and ADHD is the recognized nomenclature for any behavior indicating an inability to focus, with or without hyperactivity. Consequently, attention deficit disorder in children falls under the umbrella of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. However, doctors may still utilize ADD or ADHD to describe a child’s specific condition, based on their preference, and to prevent confusion.
Diagnosing ADD and ADHD in Providence Kids
Diagnosing ADD or ADHD involves a comprehensive process and not a single test. Your child’s doctor will conduct interviews with you, your child’s educators, relatives, and other adults closely involved in their daily lives to assess whether their symptoms align with ADD or ADHD. Standard guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics or the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) will be utilized for the diagnosis. Additionally, your child will undergo vision and hearing assessments, along with a comprehensive physical examination, to eliminate the possibility of other medical conditions presenting symptoms similar to those of ADD and ADHD.
In the event your child receives a diagnosis of either condition, it is essential to inform their educators, enabling them to offer suitable support and make recommendations to enhance their focus within the classroom environment.
