The Commonwealth Learning Center (CLC) is a non-profit educational center established in 1988 by the Stratford Foundation. We provide one-to-one teaching, assisting students from Windham and beyond, using a customized plan to meet the needs of each student.

Our teachers have special expertise in working with students with learning disabilities, including dyslexia, ADHD, language-based learning disabilities, non-verbal learning disabilities, and executive function difficulties. Our team also offers educational assessments.

Every new student is offered a complimentary consultation with the CLC director, which involves an in-depth review of prior evaluations and academic records. This initial meeting identifies a student’s strengths and areas for growth, allowing us to create a custom teaching plan.

After the evaluation, the student and their family receive a detailed report outlining challenges and providing program recommendations tailored to their needs.

ADD vs. ADHD: Understanding the Difference

Are ADD and ADHD the same? The answer is both yes and no.

ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) were once separate diagnoses. ADD typically refers to inattentiveness and difficulty focusing without hyperactivity, while ADHD includes hyperactivity and impulsivity.

Now, ADHD is the universal term used to describe these behaviors. Some healthcare providers still use ADD to avoid confusion when discussing symptoms without hyperactivity.
